Verification: The model does not hold a Guinness World Record for her darkest complexion
The post with the claim “A native of Gambella in Ethiopia, South Sudanese-born Nyakim Gatwech (27) has finally entered the Guinness Book Of Records for having the darkest complexion on the globe. Gatwech is known for her naturally dark skin color and has been nicknamed the ‘Queen of Darkness” is viral on Facebook and Twitter. The post about the model holding Guinness World Record for darkest complexion was also viral earlier and was refuted by Guinness World Recor in its Tweet on May 4th, 2020. On searching for any such record on the Guinness World Record, we could not find any result. There is no such record.

In fact, the photo is of a model Florence Batio from Perth in Australia, and not of a Sudanese model Nyakim Gatwech is the posts claim to be. The video can be seen on the Instagram account and Facebook account of Florence Baitio. The name of the model is not Nyakim Gatwech. The photo shared in viral posts is taken during the same video shoot as the background is the same. Check the screenshots shared from Instagram and Facebook below:
