Verification: Images of river Ganga is wrongly captioned
Ganga is a sacred river for we Indians. Varanasi has 88 Ghats. Lots of different rituals of life and death are performed on its different Ghats. It’s a holy river. The post shared by many people on social media has two images. Though both are the images of river Ganga, but wrongly captioned. The two images claim to be from year 2009 and 2019 respectively. In fact the first image showing the dirty version is from the article from Outlook Magazine dated 23rd june 2015, (actually shot in 2011) while the second clean image of Ahilya Ghat by the Ganges Varanasi is taken by Ken Wieland on 1st September 2009. Ahilya ghat is named after Ahilya Bai Holkar, (ruled 1767-1795) also known as the Philosopher Queen, the Holkar dynasty Queen of the Malwa kingdom, India.
The images on media were for different purposes. Also the dates and year in which images were taken does not match the viral post. While we shared the links to let you know the truth about two images, we are also sharing the screenshort below from the shared links:

Now its clear that its a fake post circulating with false claims. Please dont just believe anything you recieve. Be sure about the facts before you share anything in your social circle.
