A video of two water bodies meeting is shared with the false claim that “Where The Atlantic Ocean Meets The Pacific Ocean But Never Mix.” The video is shared widely on social media.
The video was shared earlier with the same false claim and was debunked by fact-check organizations.
In fact, the video was shot by Maryan Steve-Pearson, an American tourist, on July 2, 2015, on the Strait of Georgia, near Vancouver, Canada. The video shows the Fraser River, which runs through British Columbia and flows into the Strait of Georgia near the city of Vancouver, where it meets the Pacific Ocean. The videographer shared it on her Youtube channel. Her video was also shared by Wonder World giving her the credits, which gave it huge views. She has shared the shorter version of the video on her Instagram account with the description and tag “maryan_pearson ©️When the River Meets the Ocean – Fraser River water flows into the Strait of Georgia).
