An e-commerce product available for sale is falsely shared as an official 2020 Tokyo Olympics medal. An image of a medal showing words inscribed in different languages, including Hindi, is being shared with false claims by very popular people on social media. It is shared widely on Twitter and Facebook.
The image is of a product can be seen on the e-commerce platform eBay and is available to buy. It’s, not an official medal unveiled by the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Check the screenshot from eBay:
There is no mention of any medal being presented to the volunteers on the official website. However, there is no information on issuing any kind of certificate for the volunteer activities. There is no such mention of medals in the list of items provided to volunteers. The design of the official medal announced by Toyko 2020 is not the one that is shared with wrong captions.
