An old photo with the misleading claim that Russian Troops are withdrawing from the Ukrainian border and returning to their permanent bases has recently circulated on Facebook accounts and pages. The claim on the image is ”

The photo was taken by Russian photographer Alexei Kitaev.  The photo can be seen on Spacebattles.com. The caption to the photographs is Some Photos Of Military Exercises and the date on the article is 23rd Dec 2014. The image can also be seen on Sinidefenceforum.com was published on 24th Dec 2014 with the caption “Winter Maneuvers In Russia.

English translation to the Russian text in the bio of the Twitter user @vezhlivo who posted the images on 9th Dec 2014 on Twitter is “News of the army and military-industrial complex of Russia and other countries of the world. Articles, review.” The caption to the tweet says, “Winter is winter, and the exercises are on schedule.” It is an old image from the year 2014. It does not relate to the present situation of a tiff between Russia and Ukraine.
