None of the incidents concluded the presence of plastic in any of the edible rices in market. So essentially the fake Wuchang rice scandal is the only one which has some trace of plastic presence mentioned in counterfeiting of the rice.

Please note that Snopes reports the plastic rice story as UNPROVEN.

In India, the whole story of Plastic Rice has been proven as wrong after Food Safety and Standards Authority of India said there is absolutely no evidence of plastic contents in such rice. They are just adulterated rice.

Ashish Bahuguna, Chairman of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India said “…India does not import rice from China. We have once again taken samples from several places in Delhi and we will have to wait for the lab results to arrive at any further conclusion,…”. So this rules out any possibility of the fake Wuchang rice in circulation in India.

There were reports that Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah from the Malaysian ministry noted three brands of rice – Kokeshi, Kohinoor Basmati and NICR – said to be produced from plastic…but the official press statement did not have the brand names mentioned.
