Verification: There is no suggestion made in the CCS meeting to remove Sikhs from the Indian Army
A tweet with the claim that in a Cabinet Committee meeting on Security, there was a call for the removal of Sikhs from the Indian Army. Video clip with doctored audio is being circulated on social media.
Meanwhile, it has been found that the audio which was used with the video was in fact from a Twitter “space” Session. Mohammad Zubair from Alt News shared the space audio that has been used in a viral false claim. Check the tweet shared by Mohammed Zubair. PIB Factcheck tweeted about the viral video and clarified that it is a misleading and fake post shared on social media.
The video clip used is of the CCS meeting that took place on 9th Dec 2021 in regard to the General Bipin Rawat Chopper crash. Deputy Commissioner of Police (IFSO) K P S Malhotra said “With the ill-intent to promote enmity and instigate communal disharmony, the video was morphed and a new voiceover was superimposed in which the alleged persons tried to show that the meeting was against the Sikh community.” Delhi Police has also registered FIR in this case.
