Verification: No transactions can be executed through open internet connectivity. The video shared is scripted 

A video claiming that people come to clean your vehicle and scan the FASTag for illegal transactions. In the viral video, it is claimed that a boy scans the FASTag with his wristwatch while cleaning the car mirror. It is claimed that illegal transactions of money can be done in this way.

In fact, this is not true as the toll plazas have unique codes mapped with the bank account numbers and Geo codes. As per NETC guidelines, FASTag payments can be initiated only by authorized merchants and onboarded after multiple rounds of testing. Paytm FASTag is completely safe & secure.  FASTag NETC tweeted about it and refuted the possibility of such transactions. The video is fact-checked and shared on social media for awareness. Check the Tweet shared by FASTag NETC below. It says

“Please note that there are baseless and false videos circulating on Social media. Do understand the below points:

1. No transactions can be executed through open internet connectivity.
2. No financial transactions can be initiated without all the pre-requisites mentioned in the image.

NPCI has already taken action to respond to these videos and delist them from the Social media platforms.”

Paytm also clarified that the video shared is to mislead and is fake:
