Around 150 countries have been affected by this WannaCry WannaCrypt ransomware. It encrypts your files and then asks for ransom to decrypt them. Please find more details at the verification section of this article.

Massive Ransomeware attack…Total 74 countries affected…Please do not open any email which has attachments with tasksche.exe. file… Pl spread across all possible groups and branches… Not to open email attachments from unknown sources and update AV patch urgently tomorrow.
Verification:
WannaCry or WannaCrypt is a Malware that if installed in your system will encrypt your files and then will ask you to pay ransom in Bitcoins to decypt your files back. It’s supposedly just to make money with no political or other agenda behind it.
This ransomware as on the date of this post has affected 150 countries.
Microsoft has released a fix to this problem and the best thing to do is update your software here
