Below post has been circulating on social media.

Actually happened with a Naval officer’s wife in Delhi on 21 Mar 17.

OLA IS NOT SAFE

Just wanted to share this disturbing experience with all.

Today at about 3 PM, my wife booked an Ola cab to come to my office in East Delhi.

En route, the driver quietly switched off the navigation, and started driving in a diametrically opposite direction.

Suddenly my wife found herself near Batla house (a Muslim dominated area) in some dingy back lane with lots of men hanging around.

When she called me and raised the alarm, I çalled Ola helpline, and they confirmed that the driver was off the navigation path.

Meanwhile my wife started shouting, but the guy never stopped the car.

Somehow she was able to jump out and hail an autorickshaw which was passing by.

Even then the Ola driver followed the auto, asking her to get back in the cab.

In the meanwhile, I had already called the cops and when my wife reached near my office, the policemen recorded her statement and then we filed a formal complaint at the police station.

Surprisingly, even though we informed Ola about this scary incident, there was not a single call from them to enquire if things were ok with us etc.

I wonder, if such a thing can happen in broad daylight, what would happen if a single woman books Ola at night!!!

Driver was Mushahid.

So just a word of caution to all. I’m convinced that Ola is definitely not safe for women.

Secondly the phone number is said to be an inactive number for almost 8 months.

We also checked with OLA on this story and below is their reply.

Shared in response to the Rahul Bose incident with Ola on whatsapp:
1. Ola is the only cab company having 24hrs call centre
2. Has SOS button on the app that notifies police, Ola’s safety team and your personal emergency contacts within 1 second with all details
3. Has thorough background verification and checks as well as training for drivers

While such an incident may happen to any of us. Important for all of us to be aware of these things.

Also, do not circulate messages without adequate proof. The number given in the message is a fake number since Vodafone has clarified that this number has been inactive for over 8 months now. We cannot be sure of any message that comes on whatsapp. Pls fwd this to others too.
