Verification: Mamata Banerjee government did not block onion trucks in West Bengal
Due to untimely rains, there was low production of onion crop. So Indian government, on 9th September 2019 had put a ban on the supply of onions to neighbouring countries so as to cater for Indian Domestic Market.
The video was taken on October 5th. The person in the video says that they were standing there since 25th September and its 5th October. He says no parties is listening. He never mentioned Mamata Banerjee or Congress party. Alt News contacted locals in the area and were told that there were no trucks standing there at the moment, but were there few months back. The video is being shared with misleading captions.
