According to an article in TheDailyStar “The incident occurred over rivalry within the party, according to local AL sources. Local AL leaders claimed that followers of Hayndgaon Union Parishad Chairman BM Jasim carried out the attack over organizing an iftar mahfil in the union. AKM Samsujjaman Chowdhury, president of AL’s Patiya upazila unit, said he heard that Jasim’s supporters attacked Jiten after Jummah prayer for not inviting Jasim to the iftar mahfil.”
According to a Facebook post by a nephew of Jitendra Guha, Subrata Das, Jitendra Guha was attacked due to political rivalry with the local councilman and not because he refused to be a part of an iftar party.
