Verification: Indian Army confirms the information about Lt.Gen.Taranjit Singh’s arrest as false
Indian Army has dismissed the claim that is viral on social media with caption “Indian Army’s Sikh General Lt. Gen Tarn Jait Singh has been arrested on charges of sedition against the Modi government. This is a sign of the beginning of sabotage in the Indian Army.”
According to the statement issued on October 1, 2020, a disinformation campaign is being run by Pakistan against the Indian Army and in particular against Lt Gen Taranjit Singh, who is a senior officer posted in the Department of Military Affairs (DMA). There is no such news shared about Lt. General Taranjit Singh’s arrest.
Twitter account of the Indian Army also cautioned people about the fake posts shared about Indian Army. ANI published a tweet that shared a statement Lt Gen Taranjit Singh to the media regarding the Secretary of Department of Military Affairs (DMA) and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) working in close corporation with the tri-service headquarters. Moreover, the spelling of the name is not correctly written on the viral post with false claims.
