Verification: Real Photo of a medical student is shared with false claims on a fake account
Starting from 30th July 2020 a character known as Dr Aisha originated on social media. It was all over twitter. Posts were shared as Dr Aisha’s tweets from the hospital, narrating the situation from the time of infection caught to the death of Dr Aisha. At first, the tweets were posted direct as from Dr Aisha and then the story changes and the account was said to be handled by her sister after Dr Aisha’s death due to COVID-19 as written in tweets. The account ” @Aisha-must_says” does not exist anymore.
Many people including well know journalists have been sharing the tweet with condolence messages. Though few deleted it after they came to know that its fake account. Tweets can be checked here, here, here.
There is no truth to the tweets. According to BoomLive, the photograph of a final year medical student at the Mthatha campus of the Walter Sisulu University was stolen and used for the misleading purpose.
The image shared with false claims can be seen in the link shared below. the date to the article shared is 16th March 2016 with heading Consult Dr Anderson. The old image is used in tweets.
