Firstly the team @Check4Spam pay homage to EX-Airforce Officer Deepak Vasant Sathe pilot of Airindia and Co-pilot Akhilesh Kumar and all those who lost their lives in an air accident at Kozhikode on 7th Aug 2020. Our condolences with all the families who lost their loved ones.
As soon as the news about the AirIndia crash spread, there was fake information that started rolling along with a video with false claims, here, here and here. The message was widely shared in various social media, especially on WhatsApp. The video was shared with claims that the person singing in the video is Deepak Vasant Sathe. If you look at the uniform, one can clearly say the person singing is from the Indian Navy and not from the Indian Air Force.

The Officer singing in a video is retired Vice Admiral Girish Luthra. Vice Admiral Luthra chose to sing the iconic and hard-hitting song on the special occasion of the Indian Navy celebrating its ‘Golden Jubilee’ – 50 years – after being formally established on 1 March 1968 Check the link below. He has his own YouTube channel and published lot of his song videos. The video that is shared with false claims can also be seen in his youtube account. We have shared the same video below. The name, tej rank and the year of publishing can be seen in the link. The rank is Vice Admiral and this is Naval Rank and not Air Force Rank.
Don’t miss listening to the lovely songs Retired Vice Admiral Girish Luthra had posted on his Youtube:
