Verification: Fake tweet is shared attributing it to BBC News Hindi
An edited screenshot is being shared as a tweet made by BBC News Hindi about the cast of Brahmastra donating money for the Pakistan flood. A fake tweet conveys that the cast of the film Brahmastra Karan Johar, Ranveer Kapoor, and Alia Bhatt came forward and donated money to help with the floods in Pakistan. It says Karan Johar donated 5 crores and Ranveer Kapoor and Alia Bhatt donated 1 crore each. They also said that if their film is a hit, they will donate 51 crores.
This is a fake tweet. There are loopholes in the tweet format that indicate that the tweet is fake.
Firstly the creator of the tweet misidentifies the main hero Ranbir Kapoor with Ranveer Kapoor in the film Brahmastra while framing the fake tweet.
Secondly, the three dots on the right side is seen as verticle. In fact, the dots are supposed to be horizontal in an original tweet.
Third main point is that “Translate Tweet” is missing in the fake tweet.
Fourthly there is no dot seen after the time mentioned and no coma after the month and date. In fact, there is a format of the original tweets that is missing in the fake tweet. So definitely the tweet is framed to mislead and misinform.
After noticing the fake tweet spread attributing it to BBC Hindi, BBC Hindi also took to Twitter to clarify that they did not make any such claim. Check the link shared below:
