Verification: Shared Video of capsules stuffed with iron nails is not from India
The viral clip of hands showing medicines with iron nails inside is shared on social media with false claims giving it a communal angle. if watched carefully, it clearly shows that the two videos are from different locations. In the first half clip of the viral video, the name on the strip is Esoral. Esoral is a drug owned by Eskayef pharmaceuticals, a Bangladesh based drug manufacturer. The ‘Esoral 20 mg’ medicine packet design in the posted video is quite different from Eskayef’s ‘Esoral 20 mg’ packet sold in Bangladesh. The Urdu language is also seen written on the strip. City Pharmaceutical Laboratories Can be seen written on the strip. City Pharmaceutical Laboratories page can be seen on Facebook. in the “About” section the website can be seen that ends with the Pakistan Domain .pk. The same company name with the same address can be found listed in the ‘Approved Renewal of Drug Manufacturing Licenses to 07 (seven) companies’ list on the Pakistan Government website. “M/s City Pharmaceutical Laboratories, Plot No. 12-A, 1-5, Sector -5, New survey No. 276, Korangi Industrial Area, Karachi.” The pack is not from India.
In the second half clip of the viral video, the name on the strip is ENTEROFURIL 200 mg and the person is speaking in the Russian language. The manufacturers are Bosnalijek, a Bosnian pharmaceutical company headquartered in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The words (‘Энтерофурил’) written on the packet are in Russian. The video is not from India.
