Verification: Old images from Bangladesh are shared as from recent Assam Floods
Images shared with false claims on social media are old images from Bangladesh.
Wildlife photographer Mohammed Hasibul Wahab captured the brave act and the photograph was taken on Jun 23, 2012.
One image was also viral in 2016 and was shared by the Assam Government. The goof-up was then clarified on ZEENEWS article published on 31st July 2016 that can be read here.
The image can also be seen on Ahmedabad News, News in Gujarati, Gujarati Samachar. The newspaper Sandeshepaper has used the old image for the recent article and published on 21st July 2020.
Few more images including the one viral with false claims can be seen in the article published on Dailymail on 6th February 2014 with heading “Astonishing bravery of boy who risked his life to save baby deer in Bangladesh river by holding it above raging floodwaters.”
