Verification: Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs rubbished the message shared on social media with a fake link
The message reads, ” Due to COVID-19 outbreak, the Central government has started online processing of GST refund. Click Below to Claim Your Refund http://Onlinefillingindia.in”.
The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has rubbished this message through its Twitter handle. CBIC clarified, ” taxpayers, beware. Please do not click on any fake link. These are phishing messages and are not sent by the CBIC or Infosys GSTN. The department also asked the taxpayer to visit http://gst.gov.in for online filings related to GST.
CBIC says, through such links, the taxpayers are asked to fill important information such as- Personal details, Address, Refund Details and KYC Verification, which may not just cause financial losses to the taxpayer but also enable such unscrupulous elements to steal their data for mala fide intentions: Read more
