Writing Anything On New Notes Makes Them Invalid
Verification: No, Bank Notes With Scribbling Are Not Invalid
An image shared on social media states that according to RBI, the scribbled notes will no longer be valid and will no more be legal tender. The post is being shared on Facebook with the claim “As per New Guidelines of Reserve Bank Of India, Writing anything on new notes makes the note invalid & it will no more be a legal tender.”
This is not true. There are no such guidelines on the RBI Website that say the notes are invalid if something is written on them. Though RBI suggests not to write on the notes as it reduces the life of notes. It is advised to keep them neat for their longevity.
