Verification: Indian Air Force Pilot Shivangi Singh was not captured in Pakistan

Amid the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, social media has seen a rise in false claims related to Indian Air Force (IAF) operations and Rafale fighter jets.
A video is shared on social media with false claims that Indian pilot Shivangi Singh is disgraced and is a prisoner in Pakistan now. She was flying with Rafael. This is not true. Check the links shared below to know the facts. Some users even circulated an unrelated video in an attempt to show her supposed capture.
Squadron Leader Shivangi Singh holds the historic distinction of being India’s first woman to fly the French-made Rafale fighter jet. She is part of the prestigious Golden Arrows Squadron of the Indian Air Force, based in Ambala, Punjab.

The video, shot from a distance, shows a person in a black suit being detained by two security personnel. The video is from Pakistan’s Chitral airport, where a man landed on the premises while paragliding. The man in the video is a paraglider, Raid, and is a Bangladeshi national. According to Boomlive, Sajid Ur Rahman, a paragliding pilot based in Chitral Lines, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region of Pakistan, also posted the same details on his Facebook account. Rahman confirmed that the video was viral with a false claim of an IAF pilot, Shivangi Singh. He wrote. “For clarification, I provided the following information: BOOM Bangladesh confirmed that the video shows Riad, a Bangladeshi professional paraglider, who was apprehended by Pakistani officials at Chitral Airport after paragliding into the premises.”

PIB Factcheck clarified on its Twitter account that the viral video is shared with false claims.

Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has firmly denied reports circulating on social media that Pakistan has captured an Indian Air Force pilot during the recent military engagements. Addressing a press conference, the ISPR DG stated,
“We don’t have any pilot in custody. This is all social media chatter and part of fake news and propaganda from multiple sources.”
Both Pakistan and India have officially dismissed these claims as baseless.
The ISPR DG also addressed concerns regarding continued Indian operations despite a ceasefire agreement, asserting that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain alert and fully prepared to respond to any aggression.
The Indian government, too, has urged citizens to ignore misinformation and avoid spreading unverified content online.
